Eye Of God/Eye of the void AND NO, THIS IS NOT EYE OF CTHULU, NOR DID I GET ANY IDEAS FROM IT. This would basically be a high level boss, But with a weird exception. Its complicated to explain but i'll try my best with this weird idea. I also have no back-story to this because frankly I can't really make up one. ---How to get to the boss--- It could just be as any other boss, But I have an idea which I don't know how it will work out but it seems pretty cool. You have to get to the ''void'' which is only reachable by glitching space and time. What I mean by glitching space and time is there could be like a time machine, and while your in the time machine you could use a teleporter which glitches ''the system'' so to say, or something else. Then you appear in the void which could be a very dark or very white plain field with a plain colored sky. (Remember, this is just an idea). Then there could be a black door or something where the eye comes out. I Don't have a legit picture for it but I have some for an idea. ---Sprite/Look--- Remember, this is just a sketch and its not finished if I ever will make it. (50% sure these pictures wont even work) ---The Fight--- PHASE 1:The first phase he hovers over the door and sends out monsters (Maybe it calculates mobs that you've encountered before, or even mini-bosses if its that hard of a boss). While he is doing this, he could shoot out sonic waves or lazers that if they touch you, it damages slows you down, and it also has a chance to invert your controls for a couple of seconds or makes you teleport above ground and take fall damage. Also the eyeball can deflect 80% of incoming projectiles so it basically forces you to get up in its face, but it hard with all the enemies coming out of the door. PHASE 2:The second phase is that it charges up a powerful lazer and shoots it every 5 seconds, if it hits you, you get pushed back. While keeping all the rules from before. PHASE 3:Phase 3, the final phase is where the eyeball detaches it self from the 'wall'' and goes through the door. While you go through the door, You come out to a random world and have to chase the eye. (its barely fast, but if its extremely hard terrain it could get away). If I'm messing up anything where you could get stuck on the island, then I could change this phase but i'm sure you can warp back to your ship. So after you kill him he drops lute, Not really sure what loot though. It could be ''The Void's Pupil'' Or something. Will be updating if I have a new idea, or if I have to fix something.Tells me guys what you think of it, what to improve, what you like, and any ideas you have. I Support all feedback.
Yaaay its working now! I think its a cute idea, a malicious void-monster thing looming above attacking the player. It makes me think of that evil wall thing from Doom, the Icon of Sin, where it attacks you and trolls you with monsters. Except I don't think the Icon of Sin actually deflected your shots or floated around after being slapped around enough... or shot at you with a big ol' lol-lazer.. Definitely see what you can do about making a mockup background, because I think it's a neat idea.
I think it's decent, but still needs some work. I have several issues with it's attacks which seem to be a bit unfair to the player, specifically: -The randomness of it's enemy summoning. If it summons completely random monsters then you could end up in a situation where there's tons of high damage attacks being thrown about and there not being any room to avoid them because of the amount of them. I think it would be better if it summoned unique enemies that only appeared in this boss fight as it would make it more structured and remove the random chance to screw the player over entirely, and it would make the boss feel more unique. -The attack where it teleports you up and makes you take fall damage. The way you described it makes it sound like there's no way to avoid taking damage if the boss decides to use this attack, which seems really cheap as the player is taking damage without actually having done anything wrong other than having bad luck. I suggest making it possible to avoid the fall damage in some way (ex: make soft areas of the ground appear which you have to land in, and if you do the fall won't hurt you, but make the fall damage more severe to compensate). -I think the attack where it reverses your controls could use some warning that it's about to use it, too (maybe the eye could change colour before it uses it). In he final phase I think that the boss should instantly kill you (or just teleport you back to your ship) if it escapes, this way you won't get stuck on the planet if it leaves and there won't be any need to allow the player to teleport back to their ship.
I apologize um..sir, if we look chulu which I will call him short by name. he is from fantasy world of time and this is pose to be no magic daily future. unless this boss is from like "dead space" then its all depends.
If you're saying that Cthulhu is too "magical" for starbound and are referring to this bosses similarity to the Eye of Cthulhu from Terraria, then you're mistaken as this boss has no similarities to that one other than the fact that they're both giant eye bosses. Also, I wouldn't consider Cthulhu itself to be "magical" as I believe that Cthulhu mythos writers made a point that it was just an incredibly advanced alien rather than a magical being.
either way, doesn't stop there when its writing down many people's history or either know of all in that book, which its hard determined is cthulhu is magical or either logical.
