I don't know who said it but: "The written word is all that stands between memory and oblivion. Without books as our anchors, we are cast adrift, neither teaching nor learning. They are windows on the past, mirrors on the present, and prisms reflecting all possible futures. Books are lighthouses erected in the dark sea of time." I both love and hate this quote. It's great to illustrate the importance of books but at the same time downplays the significance of years of oral tradition that existed before books.
"Problems cannot be solved by the same way of thinking that created them." - Albert Einstein "Man cannot remake himself without suffering, for he is both the marble and the sculptor." - Alexis Carrel
Alexis Carrel was an eugenist tho. So it's a bit surprising from him to say something like that because he was thinking that the strong ones have to defeat the weak ones. Maybe the man is humanity ? Anyway, at least he was against the nazis because they loved war too much. x) "Nothing is impossible. Not if you can imagine it. That's what being a scientist is all about." Hubert J. Farnsworth
Broken clocks etc. etc. "But if someone has a gun and is trying to kill you... it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun." - Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama
"You must understand, our presence here doesn't alter history. You and I meet here because we are compelled to, we have always met here. History is irredeemable. Drop a stone into a rushing river, the current simply courses around it and flows on as if the obstruction were never there. You and I are pebbles, Raziel, and have even less hope of disrupting the time-stream. The continum of history is simply too strong, too resilient." -Kain, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 While this line comes from fiction and concerns time travel, it has interesting ideas. Why do things happen like they do? Is our fate predestined? Kain, who had supernatural abilities and magic, got a chance to alter events he had already seen happen but had immense difficulty. What about us who can't see forward and have little actual effect on other people?
"How do you make holy water? You boil the hell out of it!" A quote I found on Youtube. Nothing too special, I just like it ^^
“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.” ― Charles William Eliot
"Everyone is the main protagonist of his life" Some random guy in a Simpson episode. There's many interpretations, so I'll let you think about it personally~ ^^
Song lyrics count right? "We're all going through hell It's burn or keep on walking" From Broken Hands by Lamb of God.
