The universe is infinite, but the law isn't

I know, starbound is a family-friendly game about poptops, and characters with favorite food but no backstory whatsoever, but... What avout violence? In such a huge world, you'd at least expect real pirates. Not friendly avian guys, but greedy sadists, who will teleport on your ship, kill everyone for fun, take your stuff, amd drop you out in the space. How about drugs? You can trade weapons, but can't trade narcotics? Imagine bon-bons, but multiplied by 60? It's family friendly, and sounds really powerful isn't it? And what about slavery? Protectorate doesn't allow it, but the protectorate is being almost fully destroyed in the start of the game. Remember morrowind? Empire didn't allow slavery, but it was a part of dunmer culture, so everyone was still doing it. If you encounter a slaver ship in space, you can either buy a slave as a crew member, or kill the "slaver scum" and free everyone. Also, karma system. You saved the universe, but everyone still treats you as a common traveler, or you destroyed an avian village, and slaughtered all innocent civilians, but esther still treats you like her son? That's not very right. What do you think about it?

Sounds fairly damp, minus narcotics, squad homies

There are space pirates. They show up in camps on planets and in space on their ships.

We don't have drug cartels and slavery in Starbound because, like you said, it's family friendly. The old early-access versions of the game had references to alcohol, but they were changed to "juice bottles."
