Bug/Issue Watering Can Duplication

I made a chest and placed it in my delux barn to store my gold watering can and my fertilizer. I went to bed after the first night of it being in the chest, and woke up to a note from mayor Lewis saying that he found my tools in the lost and found. I woke up to an iron watering can in my inventory, and my gold one still in the chest. I placed that one in the chest, and woke up to yet another can in my inventory. I'm assuming this will keep happening, as long as I don't have a watering can in my inventory, and it remains in the barn chest.

Obviously this doesn't bother me too much, except that I can't throw the watering cans in the trashcan. c:
