So a few months ago, bartwe asked me to make figures to send out to the dev team as a fun surprise. And I was able to finish them before Christmas! Remember this guy? I ended up with an army of this guy. The original was sculpted with Sculpey clay, and I used Smooth-On products for the rubber mold and the resin. The silver paint is just spray paint, and the details are acrylic. The bases are just wood bases, painted with acrylic, with pebbles glued on them. I've actually never sculpted anything like this before (or used molds/resin). I'm used to making little cellphone charms... and that's about it. Nothing super detailed. Not that these guys are super detailed, but there's a little more to them than the cellphone charms. And now PROGRESS SHOTS.
That'd certainly be a nice gift to give to all the devs. Just imagine the packaged box arriving at your doorstep on Christmas What'd you do for the base of all of them?
Tiy actually jumped the gun and posted it before we were sure that everyone got them. SO HE SPOILED IT. But now I can actually post the pictures myself so.... WHOOPS BROKE MY POST.
where's the banana? you know... to scale? because the pen is not enough! is the red part of the robot acrylic? it seems so shiney :0
It's just painted red, but I used a really glossy glaze over the eye. I really wanted to use like, the super shiny metallic paint that's usually used for like, model cars, but they didn't have it in stock. And it was also more expensive anyways.
Actually that was the original plan, but i wasn't sure how to make it work with the molds, so I just sculpted them that way and did the glossy coat. Using a marble probably would have been way easier because sculpting something to be round is really hard
