Where did my hoverbike go?

I used by brand spanking new hoverbike at the Outpost and got off just to the left of the Captain.
I noticed how I couldn't pick it up with M.M. and the item still being in my inverntory so I figured I could just leave it there.
Now I'm on a planet trying to use the hoverbike but nothing happens.

Is this a bug or did I miss something?

I might add the bike is no longer at the Outpost.

 

The Outpost resets every time you visit. However, there is good news {probably}. If you buy some auto chips and talk to the bot next to Captain Chairbeard, it will rebuild it for you.

As for vehicles, they can't be picked up with the Matman - instead, click on them with the vehicle pokeball and it will zap back to your inventory.
