I would like to suggest that Bounty Hunting be added to Starbound AND be a PROFESSION as suggested by PabloElPuas. Below are some ideas to accompany this suggestion... bounties (quest) will be given out from npc's found at settlements, the outpost, or your ship's "long range com system" (a ship upgrade that is included in another suggestion thread that I will post soon) randomly generated outlaws (avian, apex, human, etc.) randomly generated "outlaw job" (smuggler, weapon dealer, pirate, etc.) that then gives them a randomly generated weapon based on their specific "outlaw job" chance each in game day(s) for a bounty to post bounty post can include specific (or not so specific information) such as bounty difficulty bounty difficulty can be based on strength of outlaw, size of outlaw group, planetary hazards, wildlife difficulty of planet bounty post can give information as to location of outlaws or a general location (specific planet, solar system, galaxy, etc.) capture ability unlocks once ship capture pod is created (another ship upgrade that I will include in my ship upgrade thread) only one outlaw per capture pod (can have a cargo hold full of capture pods... cargo hold = another ship upgrade possibly) lower health down to capture "state" and use capture gear/weapon to capture outlaw special capture weapons (taser, net, spark stick, traps) must return ship to quest starting point to "turn in" outlaw pixel rewards for elimination or capture of outlaw special drops from eliminated or captured outlaw outlaw camps (1 to 5 outlaws), outpost (3 - 10 outlaws), bases (10+ outlaws) possibly with obstacles, traps, turrets, robot guards bounty hunter gear arm cannon (everyone wants this regardless!!!) weapons (with flash lights and laser sights... laser sight would be cosmetic...) capture gear jet pack advanced combat suits/ exoskeletons (elysium style) (with lights... kind of like extra lights found on pickup truck roll bars) force field shields (glows neon colors based on what it is made of) armors and helmets (with attached lights) clothing (pants, shirts, hats) bandoliers (back item... check gear and item thread) Other ideas that are related but will be posted in other threads: Monster Hunter Ship Upgrades Multiplayer Distress Calls Gladiator Arena Power Armor Random Planets
Most people at the outpost are too nice to be requesting a bounty hunter, maybe you can receive bounty hunting requests through S.A.I.L at random times or maybe there can be a bounty board somewhere at the outpost.
Nice people need bad people to be captured also. Maybe bounties from the outpost can be capture only quest. Only receive 1/3 of pixel reward if outlaw is eliminated.
I would put it as professions in the game besides farmer, farmer, blacksmith, miner, fisherman, grocer, banker etc
Well this could work just as well with game hunting for mini bosses, I love your idea and it's pretty well developed.
