WIP Custom Status effect

I am working on a mod with a custom healing item, so I made a status effect based on the nanowrapheal.statuseffect. No matter what I try I can't get the game to use the effect(it always crashes). I'm wondering if it is even possible to use a custom status effect. If so, do I need to put it in player.config.patch and what would the path be.
