Bumping because something's gotta happen around here.

    Jammed Trigger
At the start of every area, one of your three skills is disabled until you reach the next one.

    It Keeps Spreading!
Killing an enemy has a chance of spawning two copies. This effect does not apply to clones.

    Last Resort
Killing an enemy causes suicide bullets to spawn and home in on the player who killed it.

An alternate take on that one could be them exploding upon death, so that you have to stay out of the way. Probably the fairest if it's a huntress' 4th attack style, so that melee characters also have a chance to try and dodge it.

No items. Broken droids spawn in place of item shops/chests. Bosses (and elites with a clover) drop broken droids.

If you can't get items these don't apply anyway :p

              How about this:
              • Enemies spawn at double rate.
              • There are three times as many chests on every stage.
              • Only 1/4 of them contain items. The rest 3/4, upon being opened, produce one of the following effects:
                • A swarm of missiles (similar to Disposable Missile Launcher, but 2x missiles).
                • Instant Minefield around the opened chest.
                • Nematocyst Nozzle (2x pellets).
                • Permanent Safeguard Lantern.
                • Permanent Warbanner.
                • Engineer's turret (possibly two from large chests).

              • ST510

                ST510 Big Damn Hero

                And another mutation for mutation:
                - You chose up to [balanced number of items, only one in stack] and start with increased difficulty and lower rate of items drop, based on number of items you choose.
Edit: either you can choose only lower rank items or increased influence of high rank items.

                  Futurehero Space Spelunker

                  Sudden death mode:
-Start the game with any one item you want.
-Die in 1 hit from anything
-Healing items of any sort are disabled, infusion, foreign fruits, etc..
-All chests are big sized and free.
                  -Monsters drop more xp

                  Adventure mode. (AKA EZ mode)
-No random items, only shops that let you buy any item you want, prices of items are 3x bigger, so you basically end up with 2-3 items per level, but they're whatever you want.

                  Roulette Mode:

any item-giving object is replaced with a shrine that has a 33% chance of giving you an item, 33% of hurting you and 33% chance of killing you instantly.

                    Which way was up?
                    - Game starts and plays as normal.
                    - You progress stages as normal.
                    - Divine Teleporter is Broken and scattered in 100 pieces.
                    - Survive and Collect them to challenge Providence and return to Contact Light.
                    - Two pieces per stage, you loop until you find them.

                    Ascended Warrior:
                    - Every Boss that spawns is Providence.

I'd really love to see a random character mode, each time you move on to the next stage you change character. (just hope you never get sniper)

How about mode that gives you random Z X C and V skills of any unlocked character? For example you get Engis grenade for Z, Comandos FMJ for X, Bandits smokebomb for C and Acrid epidemic for V. It might be even somewhat balanced because every char has some kind of normal attack, attack for multiple enemies, dodge (except engi and enforcer) and another attack. There can be some interesting combinations.

It would be easily abused, people could retry to get an overpowered combination. Not to mention how weird it would look graphically.

A mode where you start with a set amount of money. E.g. $1000 for the whole game, and monsters don't drop gold, Life Savings doesn't work, and that one use item doesn't work (The one that gives you money each hit.)

                            You Need Health Insurance.
A mode where you have to buy health. You don't regenerate, and you don't heal in any way. It's 1g/0.5HP
                            E.g. 500g=250HP, 100g=50HP.

                              Lucky_Mole Big Damn Hero

Not if there are some restrictions. Like on the first level you start with your normal loadout. Upon completing it you have the option to lock a certain skill that you don't want to be changed. This costs gold. And as you progress the cost becomes higher and higher. On the second level, one of your skills is randomized. If you like it you lock it along with your previous one, but the cost to lock the next 2 skills should be equal to the combined cost of all the chests on the level. So basically you can choose to roll with the ideal skills, but without the items on the level or lock 2 and have the items. Every level all the skills that you didn't keep are randomized. Some items can help you eventually to lock more, but you'll have to have something like 5 moneybags to be able to afford it.

                              1. A mutator that makes you fight the other characters would be nice. They have a chance to spawn as normal or elite enemies and only one type of char can be seen on a level. It could be very interesting to fight hordes of comandos, huntresses and mercs :) Final level consists only of the chars as elites and bosses. (and maybe someone else in the place of Providence)

                              2. Increased item drop rate and rarity by 50% and increased elite enemies by 100% and all bosses are elite versions. More danger, more rewards mutator :)

I was thinking more of starting game with skills of many different characters then having skills randomised over time. I also have no problem with others trying to abuse it by trying over and over. Let them! Just make it so that you can't unlock anything in this mode and your score, achievements and any progress isn't saved. Then it CAN be abused but it doesn't give you anything besides fun with really OP char.

Yup, that pretty much solves every problem comming from ideas being too OP or broken to implement. If you can't unlock anything than it should be okay for you to play with and feel good about it. I would abuse it and play with your mutator. :)

                                      Risk Of Rain... Literally

Enemy spawn rate is increased by 33%, but enemies spawn with less health and do less damage.
Enemies will spawn above the player and literally drop down onto them, along with enemy spawn rate increased, this leads to crazy nonsense.
Coloured enemies and ghosts become much rarer.
Bosses cannot fly or tunnel (worms for example) and cannot block player movement (pillars, for example). However, this is the only boss spawn limiter, meaning providence can spawn on the first stage (With 3rd stage removed and health/damage cut by 10%).
Providence on non-final stage levels is the only boss with weaknesses.

Because I want to see 16+ enemies with a warbanner c:

Hah. That'd be interesting, force you to think a bit harder about which items to pick up.

How would the warbanner help an enemy though? They don't level up. :)
