PLANET BOSSES My suggestion/idea is massive, planet sized bosses that a whole load of players can fight. DROPS Rewards/loot depends on the biome/climate of the planet E.g. A fire/lava planet boss would drop fire/lava related items. PLANET DEATH When you (if you) and your group (you would be crazy to do this alone), finally defeat the planet: The planet will 'die' The background will reflect the death of the planet. -When the planet is dead it will be devoid of all life; --plants and trees will be dead --the dead planet will have a post-apocalyptic feel to it. -you will then have to tunnel to the cooled-down core of the planet. -In the core of the planet is a 'legendary chest' -this chest is filled with rare and awesome loot. PLANET ATTACKS/DESTROYING THE PLANET At first the planet would not pay any attention to you as you or your group. Like a group of small 'harmless' flies. You will have to explore dungeons and other constructions and destroy the weak points of the planet (with swords, explosives, guns etc). After a while the planet will notice you and start to react. The planet will spawn more monsters. The number and difficulty of the monsters will increase as you destroy more weak points. Then the planet will cause natural disasters and start to attack, These attacks will vary and include; -columns of lava/magma will burst from the ground in some planets. -clouds of neurotoxin will appear in some planets. -the planet will do whatever it can to stop you. -the gravity may decrease. -oxygen levels may decrease. -water may become toxic to swim in or clouds of acid rain may form. Meteorites may be hurled to the ground Earthquakes may start. Chasms will open up. The flora of the planet will become aggressive; E.g. trees will try to attack you or grow spikes as you traverse along the planet. As the weak points are destroyed, the planet will become increasingly aggressive. The terrain will become difficult to traverse due to many hazards. The background images will reflect the anger of the planet. The planet will lash out at buildings or structures, destroying them. Players will be able to attack the planet from orbit, other players on the ground. Players can tunnel within the planet destroying parts of it. throwing dynamite/mining large chunks of the terrain will damage the planet. If a player attempts to mine to the core of the planet (during the boss-fight) they will be incinerated. please tell me if you have anything else to add or any expansion to the concept. This would be cool if only because of the Human Intro. If you go back to Earth (Human) or find Earth (Other) you have the option of helping destroy whatever crazy octopus creature is destroying/has destroyed the planet.
Planet-sized bosses sound good; neither yay or nay about bosses that are planets. These should be rare, or hard to reach bosses that require more than just one player to defeat. You could find quests that ask for help due to a titanic monster attacking a planet, or perhaps accidentally come across a new 'planet' while exploring, only to find that it is in fact a boss. You could fight it either from within your ship, or by landing on it (after lowering its defenses within your ship) and running around destroying weak points. I would be mind-blown if these bosses required some players attacking from orbit, others on the surface, and perhaps still others from inside the beast...coordinated assaults ftw! Nice concept!

+1 Vote How menacing would it be it be to look at a planet from the helm of your ship and tell yourself "I got to defeat that thing "? At first a beast of such scale would take no notice in something so insignificant such as yourself, but as you destroy each dungeon's protection* (Which would somehow be tied to the boss's health) The planet would become more volatile and violent. Chasms would open up, the sky would fall as the monster unleashes its final breath. Your reward (the boss's item drops) could be reached by going to the center of the now dead planet or by going to the center of where the planet exploded (some may go boom, others may not). *see roadmap for details

I like the idea of coordinated assaults, too. This has the flavor of old school EverQuest or something akin to it. It would be really neat to have these in the game for guilds to fight as a guild-raid. Obviously they would need to be rare, or the frequency of loot of this caliber would break the game pretty quickly.
The are a few problems with attacking from space that I think need to be cleared up: Space combat to our knowledge has not been implemented in any shape or form, making it the most code heavy in the Boss Planet suggestion What would be the trade off for space vs land combat, so that players don't always resort to the safest option (space) As someone who is familiar with code, I can safely say that so much work would have to go into space combat that it would have to be it's own separate suggestion (Which I am sure someone has already posted). Assuming that SC was implemented, how would space combat be as challenging or as engaging as land?
maybe the bosses would be multi stage, you would have to down a specific thing from space, like a shield or something, before landing and attacking the surface of the creature. I remember the GIF of Tiy's expandable Spaceship, maybe you could add specific battle stations
Seeing as how weapons are randomly generated, I can see the loot being Special Tech, some armor skins, and maybe some new pets or mounts, but nothing to game breaking by forcing specific end game gear
