Smapi and Stardew not working

Had smapi working fine but was unable to make a new save or load an old one, it freezes on the ombre trying to transition but can't. After some messing around I decided to reinstall everything. Now Smapi won't even work at all. "Oops! You're running Stardew Valley 1.11, but the oldest supported version is 1.3.36. Please update your game before using SMAPI."
Tried to force update game. Didn't work.
Tried an earlier version of smapi. 2.7 I think. Didn't work either.
FYI Tried to give the beta key jumpingjunimos, last year type of deal but that didn't work either.

Is it such a crime to just want cute mods? Lol.
Any help appreciated.

 

UPDATE:
I've found out another file directory for stardew through GOG games, turns out that it's not updated to the newest stardew version and steam prefers that.
Any clue how to update this specific stardew valley?
