I just got my house the max upgrade (Don't have the final addition yet tho) And g o s h! I've tried 6 times to reorganize my chests to adjust to the new size And I keep breaking chests with my axe by accident which has items inside, and then I restart because I'm a hoarder Oh my gosh I keep messing up and misclicking xD !
If you *have to* hold something: sickle, fishing pole, watering can. Don't run around holding an axe. Didn't you learn nuthin from Kindergarten? (I didn't know you could destroy a full chest without an NPC walking over it...)
pretty sure it's a bug, but yeah, you can. i've broken my fair share of chest with thing in them while remodeling my home. ... it usually end up in quit-reloading cause I hate wasting stuff.
How are you getting your axe to destroy a chest (plus contents)? I have been whacking on this one chest for a couple of game hours. and as near as I can tell, it is invulnerable. Whacked on it for a spell with my pickaxe, too. Both axe and pickaxe are gold quality. How do you do it?
Maybe. But it's also a player thing. You had to hit it 3 times to destroy the contents then again to put it in your bag. That's a lot of mis-clicking. You may need to use a controller cuz it's Y to use a tool and A to open chests. On my Switch, I've *never* accidentally broke stuff like that.
It actually will break on the FIRST hit if you do it "the right way". The two first hit were to show that the chest was and should have stayed unbreakable for the third hit.
Does the ax have to be iridium? Mine are gold, and I cannot get it to work, no matter how many timed I whack the damn thing. It works fine when the chest is empty. Are you doing anything special when you hit the chest?
I used iron, but it works on basic tools too. It can be a hoe, pickaxe and an axe. I do nothing special, it just happens whenever I click. I'm guessing its a bug, I'm playing on Beta. Perhaps try that? Dunno why you're actively trying to figure out how to do this, Its heart breaking when it happens ;-;
I am disappointed to hear that this is a beta bug. I thought this might be a way to get rid of those items you cannot sell or throw away. Load them into a chest and give the chest a good whack. But sadly, that is not the case, and it will probably get fixed before beta goes into genersl release.
